I own the site, yes, but I'm not the one in charge of the GGL. I simply make suggestions :)

I think we end up having a debate about the sub rule every season, usually more than once. It's good for the people who sub in and for any new teams who use them, maybe because they need to, but is bad for the new teams who can get their teams together. I've subbed in and been subbed against so I have experience with both. I think it would be better to have at least have something somewhere, just in case some teams try to take the mick.

And before anybody says, I know it's a recreational league :P

At the very least, there should be a limit on how much one person subs in a season. But what should also be taken into account is the skill level, if you need a sub, there are plenty of people around willing to sub, if you're in a division with rookies or less experienced teams, bring in a player with less experience and not a veteran so that the sub does not alter the competitiveness of the game. Grifball is 4v4, one stud player can dramatically alter the game.

Are you kidding me? Its been done in the past in both leagues, a player will sub a game against a team with a better or similar record to the team the sub is actually playing for. Ensuring that the other team loses and bring down their record increases the chances of the subs main team of getting a better seed in the playoffs. Say you play for Team A and you're record is 6-0 and Team B has a record of 6-0 as well. Team C is 3-3 and about to play Team B, so you sub for Team C and help them beat Team B, their record is now 6-1, at the same time, your team, Team A won their game and are now 7-0. You just moved ahead of Team B in the seeding criteria.

Thank you guys for the feedback, it really does help us out. Kal and I talked at length about this issue this morning and we've cooked a few ideas up, but we're very interested in the kind of resolutions the community can think up as well.

I try not to post in this thread cause I'm not a rookie or an admin of any sort, but.....I heard about chocolate chip pancakes, and couldn't resist. Mmmmm...pancakes. :)

1. Chocolate chip pancakes? Cmon i could name 500 better pancakes off the top of my head...

2. Here is my suggestions.
A. Rookie teams can use rookie subs (I believe you have rookie defined as 0-2 seasons?) Unless team captains agree on a veteran sub.
B. teams can only use a sub with an equal or comparable stats to the player sitting out unless team captains agree on a sub (this prevents teams from using better players to get a better seed)

The main issue I have with subbing is that it has a huge impact on the playoff seeding and that needs to be eliminated.
