My names Matt and I'm currently massing AP and honors courses in high school in hopes to get into a better college. My question is, what jobs in the gaming industry are well-paid, and what kind of experience does someone need to land that job.

What I've Learned: Nothing screams inspiration louder than a due date.

I don't really know how the American school system works, but I guess it's 1-9 grades ground school (if that's what you call it), high-school and then college? If that's how it is next year I'm starting High-school and I'm looking around thinking of what to choose. I have 77 different schools to choose from but I directly got stuck with those that goes for Game design and such. Anyone who choose that can you tell me how it is?

As part of this semester I have to take Physiological Psychology - it's pretty much neuropsych and biology and not something I've studied in about 5 years. I have a midterm on Tuesday, worth a third of my grade and I've been studying like crazy. I don't think I've ever studied this hard for anything before.

So if someone knows Chloride's role in action potentials, that would be cool.

I like the biology of the brain and neurons and stuff...I think it's pretty cool. Although it was a bit less cool a few days leading up to exams.

As far as chloride goes, it seemed like a fairly minor player. It did play a bit of a role during cardiac muscle contraction stuff...but you're most likely sticking with the neurons in the brain. For them, of course you've got sodium and potassium handling most of the work of action potentials. But sometimes a neuron needs to chill out a bit, and has an "inhibitory post synaptic potential" going on; which basically just hyperpolarizes the cell. Chloride concentration is high outside cells and low inside, so to hyperpolarize the cell it just needs to make the membrane a bit more permeable to chloride and it'll slip in and bring some nice negative charges with it. Since it's extra negative inside the neuron, more stimulation is needed to reach the threshold for an action potential. (potassium can also be involved with this too)

Knocked the test out yesterday, not really sure how it went. Definitely hate it when there are two correct answers and you gotta flip a coin... Oh well, midterms are over so bring on the rest of the semester!

If I got two correct answers I usually pick both. Except if they are fighting each others of course.

Something cool I've learned:
The reason some jetfighters have swept wings is because it changes how fast the air is moving past from the wing's point of view. This way you can have the whole jet fly about 1.1-1.2 times the speed of sound without creating a sonic boom. Now if only we could find a similar cheat for the speed of light...

Wow, what a creative way to learn a language! I like it!

"The nature of warfare never changes, only its superficial manifestations. Joshua and David, Hector and Achilles would recognize the combat that our soldiers and Marines have waged in the alleys of Somalia and Iraq. The uniforms evolve, bronze gives way to titanium, arrows may be replaced by laser-guided bombs, but the heart of the matter is still killing your enemies until any survivors surrender and do your will." Ralph Peters

Some of my favorite releated quotes:
"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." -Einstein
"War does not determine who is right - only who is left." -Bertrand Russell

The specifics change from town to town, but for the most part, yes.

1st to 5th or 6th Grades are Elementary School.
6th or 7th to 8th or 9th Grades are Junior High School or Middle School.
9th or 10th to 12th Grades are High School.

I have a Web Design class this year and we are learning how to make websites. How about anyone else?

I'm doing web design too, the first year of my course is a generic course were we do all the modules and one of them is web design.

Also I'm sure that Strangler did a GCSE in German which sounds difficult (I got an E in Spanish for my GCSEs) until you remember that he is actually German and is therefore fluent in the language. Crafty.

Also all your crazy foreign school systems confuse me.

Im doing my first year of GCSE's this year, which I was forced to do triple science, forced to do R.E, forced to do a language, forced to do core I.T, (which I actually like) and forced to do either history or geography. I chose geography which im starting to regret. Im also doing obviously maths and english, and im doing Product Design, German as my language and the one option I got to choose I chose Business Studies.
