I wasn't sure which part of the fourm to post this on, so if this topic's in the wrong place, would someone move it?

I'm trying to create a new variation of Grifball. I'm using Blargball as my template simply because it feels like something that would more likely happen in Blargball than in regular Grifball. I'm calling it Blargball: Stratego.

In it, there are two teams of five instead of four. The weapons and equipment usage stay the same, as well as stats for each player/ball carrier. There remain 5 rounds, and rounds are now 2 minutes long, with a 15 second Sudden Death instead of 30 seconds.

Instead of one bomb, there are now two. The bombs spawn in the player bases; each team must carry their personal bomb to the other team's base. The catch is that one team cannot score as long as the other bomb is being carried or is out of the opponents' base. The bomb reset time is now 15 seconds instead of 30.

The problem I have is finding which particular game type I have to manipulate (Assault, Grifball, Blargball, etc), Which options within that game type I have to mess with, and setting them up accordingly. Can someone help me with setting up the right options? Or is this type of game setup even possible?

You would have to use Multi-Flag CTF. The concept is that your flag is at your spawn and your capture plate is at the enemy's spawn. So set a flag stand down on red side's spawn set to a red team, and a blue team flag stand on blue's spawn. Then put red team's capture plate in blue's spawn, and blue team's capture plate in red's spawn.

I made an example game and map as a sort of template for you to look at.

Let me know after you download them so I can remove them from my fileshare.

Here you can get all the settings for the gametype. Just make sure to set "Flag at Home" to "Yes", so that you can't score unless the other flag is at home. And set all the timer stuff to whatever you want.

To my knowledge there isn't a way to force elite spawns on CTF unless there is some Elite CTF game in matchmaking. You'll just have to get everybody to change preferred species to Elite.

Happy to. If you run in to any issues, let me know. I had thought of the idea of each team having a bomb and playing offense and defense simultaneously, but rejected it because I thought it would be too easy to score. I never thought of forcing the objective to be at its spawn in order to score. That's a good idea.

I figured out that you have to spawn the blue flag AND the blue goal in the red team's spawn, and vice versa, in order for this to work correctly. If this is what you were trying to explain to me, I didn't understand and went through a few unnecessary alterations before I got it correct. However, I've created a MAP and a GAMETYPE for anyone that would like to try it out. If you find any problems, I'd be happy to work them out.

The map is a little smaller than a normal Grifball arena since I figured it would be too hard to score OR defend on a bigger map.
