Ok, so I would like to say some things regarding the All-Star game and events...

But first, I hope none of you get too obsessed with stats, because I understand the recreational nature of GGL is to not get caught up praising players based solely on stats. GGL is a place for the players and community of players and members of GrifballHub. One of the things I admire most about GrifballHub, are the two admins Goose and Kal. It's unique to see a husband and wife spend so much of their time loving this community and group on the internetz. It's odd, but I appreciate it and so do many of the GrifballHub members. Mike does a great job keeping up this website too .

Now, the following are some of my rough-draft plans for making the "All-Star" (if I call it that) events come to life...

What I'm thinking of doing is asking members if they would be available to participate in a All-Star game and/or event at a specified time. Then, with all the eligible player names collected, I would A) ask the community to vote for a few players to see in the All-Star game (excluding themselves) or skip straight to Plan B) do a random selection of the eligible players.

Then, with the top 8 (or more) as determined in option A, I would do a random selection of the eligible players to put in Red Team and Blue Team (this is also option B, which could be done exclusively).

Then... when I have a team set, the game could 1) take place before the playoffs, with no changes to roster or 2) take place before the finals, with changes to roster excluding the finalists (akin to Pro Bowl).

I don't want you guys thinking about stats so much. Vote for your favourites and friends! Either way, I would need a list of eligible players based on the time proposed for an All-Star Game and Events. The list would then either follow option A or option B exclusively, as detailed above.

I hope I don't have to explain myself again. If you don't understand what I'm trying to say, try to read it over several times.


Let me know what option you favor, and also at what time in the season. If the All-Star Game takes place before playoffs, there's a chance the finalists would get in, but teammates may not necessarily be on the same team . If the All-Star Game takes place before the finals, then the players playing in the finals will not play.

Please do not bring up other topics that may be associated to All-Star Events. This poll is to discuss only when the "Main" All-Star Game should be played, and who should be playing, and how it should be determined.

I think before the playoffs would be best because then everyone has an equal chance.

I think before the finals but people should vote on players as you can use subs in play off games so in a sense you can bring in players during the finals, also to be more efficient about this and for fun we could run a separate bracket along side the play offs for the teams losing in the first round not only to extend the time playing grifball but to also have a further look at players who made it to the play offs and again, bringing in the possibility of more subs to look at more players.
another idea for the other tournament: we could randomize the teams for it as a little look at the all stars idea and have the minimum number of players from a team being 2.
