Playlist ideas:
I already know that with the release of the info on the halo 4 grifball gametype being changed completely i have some ideas to help.

Separate the gametypes into 3 categories.

Classic grifball: where you have the vanilla type with no abilities and no ball passing *unless its not possible to change setting*. Rounds reset after each score.
Grifball 2.0: The standard grifball game with various changes and armor abilities can be used and can be with the new ball throwing ability and rounds don't reset after each score.
Ultimate grifball: Similar to blargball, The maps are set up where there are 3 plants. 2 of them are matched up along the walls that are worth 1 point and the one in the far corners are worth 2 as shown in the impromptu diagram. Rounds don't reset after each score.

Map idea:
With gametypes that allow ball throwing there can be obstacles in the air such as 1x1 walls at random angles or cones that float making it hard to throw the ball around since it could bounce along the obstacles. These obstacles are high enough to only effect the ball throw and too high to effect the player.

Just throwing that all out there for anyone to take in. Again its ideas and yes i know that there is no guarantee that anything is possible,
