Johnson's Salty Grifballs are looking to get some games played on Sunday as hopefully we should have a full team online that day. There is a chance we can play tonight if Strangler comes online but if anybody is up for a game on Sunday send me a message and let me know

Right, not sure if it's at all relevant but I shall post it here. Can anyone help me out with a new theme song/title music for my highlights, I'm bored of the old grifball theme & I'm looking for someone to possibly mixing up a few songs (preferably making reference to Sarge or Sarge's Angels). If anyone can help it'd be most appreciated.

I know it's been said that there're going to be awards for stats etcetera, but I reckon (in my EXPERT opinion ) there should be some voted awards too. For example, MVP, Rookie of the Season, Most Improved, All-Star team. Could do them divisionally or overall. Either have a committee select or do a community vote. Personally I'd have a committee select a few candidates and then do a community vote from those, but anything could work. Any thoughts on that?

Adding on to Mallards idea, I would like to see something like the best team picked. I think it should be a different one for each division (as to keep it fair for everyone) and the team should be something like 1 runner, 1 hybrid and 2 tanks and only 1 player from each team *as to make sure it's not a JSG/TI team. I also agree with all of Mallards ideas.

If it isn't all JSG then it isn't team of the season..........

To be honest though I think that it would be something which would cause arguments and upset, far too many people to just pick 4 from. Plus how would people be able to know to rate each player, you can't just go off stats. You'd have to view lots of games.
It is not how many kills you get that is important, it is when you get them.

I was contemplating this idea just this morning as a matter of fact in a weird coincidence or a case of great minds thinking a like. I'd be interested in doing it but I'm unsure how it would come out, if some people would get pissy over the results or if it would just come down to a popularity contest or something like that but I am keeping it in mind as well as contemplating some sort of awards given out on stats too but all this is just ideas at the moment.

What do you mean by awards though?

If it is done I agree with Mallard that it would have to be select people in charge of it. Otherwise people would just vote for the mates

With the current community, I think people are mature enough to not aggro if they don't get selected (I can see why in the past it'd be a problem, but nowadays I don't think it'd be so bad). I'd hope it wouldn't be a popularity contest, e.g. could do it so you can't vote for people on your own team, but that might lead to some lopsided results as some teams are more active on the forum than others. Hmm...

But I would want to vote for one of my players, not out of bias but because I truly believe they are currently up there. So I wouldn't want to vote for someone unless I really thought they were the best.
I think that with younger people it does become a problem but that just happens.

I guess maybe just vote on your personal experiences against players. I know I've come across a few who put up pretty abysmal stats but aren't the worst players in the world, so you're right about not doing it on stats. The American league used to just do a vote (maybe they still do, I haven't been paying attention), and people used to rage over that, true, but people always rage in the AGLA, so any "Team of the Season" award can't be blamed. Honestly, yeah, it is a bit of a popularity contest, Thierry Henry got selected for the MLS team last year without actually doing anything, and you wouldn't be able to cut that out. It was just suggested as a bit of fun, but if its likely to cause too many problems then I understand why some people'd want to avoid it.

I think it's a goodidea. Just very hard, like in anything, for results to be seen by even the majority as completely fair.
Plus perhaps if it was just JSG/TI then that would mean that it would probably be more likely a team of the season if both teams get first and second.
Hence why in football player of the year usually has about 80 percent (citation needed ) of Barcelona players in the shortlist. They don't think to add some people from Aston Villa or Flamengo just to appease those players.

I think though in the team of the year it should only be 1 player from each team allowed to give everyone a fair chance on getting in the team. So, if your like KFC or Hellhounds who haven't been doing to good, but you still played well, you'd have a chance of getting on the team.

I can think of a few outside of JSG/TI who would get in, but yeah, you make a good point. It all comes down to personal preference as to whether you think it should be the "best" team or used to give recognition to players that have played on struggling teams. I did suggest a couple of others too, e.g. divisional MVP, rookie of the season (apart from a couple of TATR players and 1 HellHound, I think all first season players are in D2), and Most Improved (who, lets be honest wont be a long-term JSGer as they've not suddenly got better, they've ALWAYS been better ). That would mix it up a bit.

There might be some people who don't see things as completely fair, but as you said, there never is. At the very least, if a message is sent out over XBL, these might encourage players to be a bit more active on the boards, that's not a bad thing.
