EUGBL RULES AND INFO

The EUGBL stands for the European Grifball League and is a competitive Grifball competition made as an alternative to the AGLA specifically for European teams. It was originally played on Halo 3 but is currently played on Halo 4.

The EUGBL is currently being administered by Dat Crab & MallardQuakson. A full list of all the league admins can be found here.

FORMAT

The EUGBL is played on a nine round, untimed gametype, all games must be played on this gametype unless the game is featuring some sort of neutral host or spectator system, in which case a valid neutral host gametype must be used instead.

The default map for the EUGBL is Thin Ice and should be used for league games. However teams can agree to use another map and if both captains agree then they can change to using a different map as long as it has been approved of the EUGBL first. For games which feature neutral host or a spectator then a valid neutral host map should be used.

The official map and gametype are both available on the fileshare of Messiah Muffin.

It is the responsibility of the captain of the winning team to report the result of the game, however other players can do so instead. If a game is not reported then the result will not be recorded.

TEAMS AND PLAYERS

Teams must have a minimum of four players while there is no official cap on how many players a team may have. Players are locked to the roster on completion of a game for that team. Players who are not roster locked and do not breach the rules of the EUGBL may be added to the team at any time and any player not roster locked may be removed.

A team can only have a maximum of two non-European players on their team so if a team has two roster locked non-European players on their roster then no more may be added or used by the team. Any player who plays in the AGLA may not also play in the EUGBL but players from any other competition are fine.

Once the league has begun teams are unable to change their team names while any player who changes their gamertag should notify a league admin. Players must not play for more than one team in a season, even on alternate accounts.

SCHEDULING

When the season begins teams will be placed in divisions with sizes that will differ depending on the numbers of teams signing up to the league. Each team will play every other team twice and are scheduled with two games every week during the regular season.

There is no official game night or set time for teams to play their games as instead the games are on free scheduling so it is a teams responsibility to schedule all their games and get them played. Teams are encouraged to play their games on time or to play their games earlier if possible to avoid running out of time available. Their will be a catch up week for teams to catch up with any games at the end of the regular season.

FORFEITS

At the end of the catch up week the regular season will be brought to a close. After this period any games that have been left unplayed will be awarded as a forfeit to either team or will be left unplayed if it is not believed any team is deserving of the result. Team who believe they should receive a forfeit result in their favor should contact the league commissioner before the end of the catch up week. Teams will be awarded forfeit victories over any teams who drop out of the league during the season.

DISPUTES

The EUGBL is a competitive league so we look to make the league as fair as possible and we know that during the season there may become matches which some teams would like to dispute for reasons such as lag. Any game which a team wishes to dispute should be sent to the league commissioner or an admin placed in charge of disputes with the match being disputed, the reason that they are disputing it as well as a film of the game for evidence to back up their claims.

If during a game something arises which hampers the game play experience such as extreme lag, players not spawning or a player disconnecting from the game then a team should take the knee, the term for when an entire team crouches down and stops playing. If a team does this then the opposing team must stop playing and it is then up to the captains of the two teams to discuss a course of action. This can be in the form of waiting for the connection to improve, restarting the game, rescheduling the game or waiting for a disconnected player to return. Teams may not bring in a substitute player during a game if one leaves and are only allowed to bring back the disconnected player, restart the game with said new player or continue on with a player down. The host of the game should not simply stop the game without consent of the other team and should not leave a game if they do not get there own way. If teams cannot agree on a course of action they should contact the league commissioner.

It is also between the captains how they wish to restart the game. The teams may agree to have one team begin with the bomb in which case both teams should return to their spawn and begin with a bomb drop, starting when the bomb carrier drops the bomb and picks it back up or teams may commence in a bomb reset, returning to spawn and dropping the bomb, both teams restarting after thirty seconds when the bomb resets. During pauses in play killing is not allowed, this includes killing the opposition team or your own teammates. Scoring is also not allowed. Players are encouraged to stay in their own side of the court if they are not discussing the matter with the opposing team.

PLAYOFFS

At the end of the regular season the top teams will be seeded into the end of season playoffs with the number of teams being included and the exact stipulations for which places being included changing depending on the leagues format. Playoff games are played in exactly the same way as any standard season game except are played with a knock out stipulation and teams will be expected to get one game done a week, however forfeits will be more lenient during the playoffs.

Teams who finish on the same amount of games won will have their placement decided by a series of tie breakers. Teams will primarily be favored for having a better goal difference but if both teams share the same difference then they will be assessed with their results again each other, and then a common team if this bares no fruit. In the rarest of cases an extra tie breaker game may be needed.

RULES

Stat padding is against the rules of the EUGBL and this includes in league games and in Matchmaking matches. Players who are found to be stat padding may either be warned or removed depending on how serious their case is and their past experience in the league with rookie players being given more leniency. The league commissioner has the right to hand out punishments and warnings as he sees fit and any cases of stat padding should be sent to them.
Also the 'Don't be a douche' rule will be under the commissioner's point of view on certain disputes if they fall under that rule.

Players are reminded not to take part in malicious trash talk or personal attacks. The league is not saying players are not allowed to trash talk and are not allowed to commence in rivalries but are reminded to keep these to a friendly nature and to not engage in offensive arguments with other players in the league. Players who do so may be warned or may have more serious action given against them depending on the situation.

Once again this all falls down to the views of the league commissioner.

Any player found to be cheating, such as playing on alternate accounts, exploiting flaws in maps, purposely causing connection issues or other issues will be punished in accordance to how severe there offense is and could result in a permanent ban.

DISCLAIMER

All rules are subject to change by the current EUGBL commissioner depending on the situation. Any rule that is judged to have been abused may be altered. The commissioner has the right to change, alter, interpret the rules any way they see fit, depending on the situation.

Any team which signs up to the league and any player who signs up or plays in the league hereby give their approval of all the above rules.
