Hello European Grifballers and non-European Grifballers of the GrifballHUB community. I am European Grifball player Messiah Muffin and this is this is my EUGBL discussion topic.

For all of you asking, what is the EUGBL?, then I can either give you the long answer or the short answer. The long answer is that it is a Grifball league held on GrifballHub for European Grifball teams. Several leagues are ran a year by different commissioners with many teams made up of mainly European talent. In short, it is the European version of the AGLA.

I've made this topic so we community members can discuss the European league, giving the league itself more exposure and hopefully helping to attract new teams, or at least ones who don't forefit, so that the general league can be improved.

EUGBL CHAMPIONS

EUGBL1: Death on Call
EUGBL2: Chupathingy
EUGBL3: The Fumble Faction
EUGBL4: Grifballs of Steel
EUGBL5: Grifballs of Steel
EUGBL6: Grifballs of Steel
EUGBL7: Channel 4 News Team
EUGBL8: Itches and Bitches
EUGBL9: The Elite Spartans
EUGBL10: Johnson's Salty Grifballs
EUGBL11: Johnson's Salty Grifballs
EUGBL12: Johnson's Salty Grifballs
EUGBL13: Team Impact
EUGBL14: Johnson's Salty Grifballs

Feel free to use this topic for all of your EUGBL talk, thank you.

I like to be included. And stuff happened today. Stuff doesn't usually happen today so I can report it. The playoffs have been decided which I guess means they are underway, but now we know who is playing who and whom can then be playing whom.

Bascially, the six teams to make it to the playoffs have been announced. In a surprise twist, these are the six teams who actually played their games and didn't save it to late or forefitted. The six teams are:-

Division 1 Winners - Sarge's Angels
Division 2 Winners - Johnson's Salty Grifballs

Division 1 Runners-Up - Screw The Rules And Just Come At Me Bro!
Division 1 3rd Place - Faster Than Light

Division 2 Runners-Up - Storm Hawks
Division 2 3rd Place - Grifballs of Steel

The two teams who won the group, one of which I play for because I thought I should mention that for bragging rights, make it straight into the semi-finals. The other teams will play each other with the winner of each game making it into the semi-finals. Here are the games:-

Quarter-Final 1 - Screw The Rules And Just Come At Me Bro! vs. Faster Than Light
Quarter-Final 2 - Storm Hawks vs. Grifballs of Steel

Semi-Final 1 - Sarge's Angels vs. Winners of Quarter-Final 2
Semi-Final 2 - Johnson's Salty Grifballs vs. Winners of Quarter-Final 1

Final - Winners of Semi-Final 1 vs. Winners of Semi-Final 2

That is all for now, more news as we get it. Also, at the end of the season I will post the player stats for this season, including stats such as the most scores, the most kills and the best k/d ratio. That's all for now. Muffin out.

Collecting the game stats would be easy enough and I've already collected player stats on HaloCharts, but Grifball.info would definatly be a good way to get the stats down properly. And here is something I did just now:-

EUGBL Special Six

After six weeks of Grifball, but mostly not playing Grifball with teams not playing or forefitting, the European Grifball Summer League 2011 has it made it into the playoffs, with only six teams remaining. Their is a mix of teams in the competition, with a selection of new teams to the competition, ex-winners and experienced competitors filling the spots. Here is a run down of who is left and what we can expect from them.

Sarge's Angels

Result: Division 1 Winners

Sarge's Angels are the longest running team in the European Grifball league, featuring in all but the very first league, and being a staple of the league for the past 9 seasons. However the team have never won the league so are looking for their first big breakthrough which could have come now. The team are the most experienced in the league and are made up of long time players, so definatly have the understanding of the sport. However, the switch to Reach may have stolen away this advantage, but the teamwork between the long-lasting players in the team will also be an advantage to them. The team won 4 of the 5 games they played in the playoffs, only losing to Screw The Rules, giving them a good momentum going into the next round.

Brothers Teaguey222 and Gibbley Giblets will be the stars of the team, both being knowledgeable players with lots of skill, with Giblets also being a strong tank for the team. If both of these play together it will definatly improve their chances.

Danger Man: Gibbley Giblets

Screw The Rules And Just Come At Me Bro!

Result: Division 1 Runners-Up

The annoyingly named Screw The Rules And Just Come At Me Bro! (STRAJCATMB!) are made up of the players who won the league last year for The Elite Spartans. For everything but names sake, this team are the defending champions going into these playoffs. A well-balanced team with a mixture of strong tanks, clever hybrids and tricky bomb runners, Screw The Rules are a team that cover all the bases well. A lot is expected of the defending champions but the team has been without captain RW12 throughout the season so it will be intresting to see if he plays a part before the season is up. The team has stuggled a bit in the group stages, winning and losing 2 games to both Sarge's Angels and Faster Than Light. They will have to make sure they keep up their form in the group stages if they want to win.

While Hurricane Ham was the top-scorer in Division 1, the tanking ability of NonDairyTea and Xx SumoS xX is what pushed the team through the group stages. The two have played well scoring nice positives and a lot of kills, with NonDairyTea holding the highest K/D ratio of all players after the group stages. This tanking will be the key to their progress.

Danger Man: NonDairyTea

Faster Than Light

Result: Division 1 3rd Place

A team only in their second season in the EUGBL, Faster Than Light have managed to make their way to the group stages. Probably less known than the others in the competiton, they have the potential to be the dark horses of the competiton. The team only managed 1 win in the group stages but scored it over Screw The Rules giving them an impressive upset over the defending champions. The team have potential but there is a chance they will be overpowered by the stronger teams in the playoffs.

The team have not gone through with the best player stats but the team is working as a whole. Captain Sgt Chappers is being a reliable bomb carrier for the team with ROBS A NYTMARE providing the team with a tanking threat.

Danger Man: ROBS A NYTMARE

Johnson's Salty Grifballs

Result: Division 2 Winners

The Salty Sensations, Johnson's Salty Grifballs managed to qualify into the group stages with the best standings of any team in the competition, being the only team to not lose any games. Out of the 8 games the team played, they managed to win all 8 with 2 resulting in a shut-out, including against last seasons runners-up, Team Impact. The team is a mixture of veterans, with former EUGBL runners-up Strangler 999, Messiah Muffin and Hardcore Crab all stacking the team. The team has also been buoyed with the performances of tank kirsty de lacey and defender Linxx182. The team are experienced and are playing well and have a chance of winning it all for the first time, and I'm not just saying that because I'm on the team, either.

With the bomb carrier duties being shared among Strangler, Crab and Linxx, the job of tanking has been left to hybrid Muffin and kirst de lacey. However, the two who both played in all 8 of the teams game have managed to get an impressive +358 k/d spread between them, showing that the team are a real tanking force to be reckoned with.

Danger Man: Messiah Muffin (Me)

Storm Hawks

Result: Division 2 Runners-Up

A team probably more recognised by American teams for their ventures in the GGL, Storm Hawks are only in their first season in the EUGBL but have managed to make it all the way to the playoffs. They managed to score 1 win in the group stages over one of the favorites at the start of the competiton, League of Super Evil, and this has helped them into the playoffs. The team have had to cope with playing Vanillia Grifball rather than Dash which they prefer, but the team have managed to show that they are now just a one game type team, with a mix of good bomb carries and powerful tanks on their roster.

The pair of HALO7JET and AlExThEnIcE are the real core of the team, with Jet being one of the best bomb carriers in the league while Alex is one of the top tanks, scoring an impressive 83.63 kills a game. With Thats Emuff also being more than capable of tanking his way around the court, this team have a real chance of winning it all.

Danger Man: AlExThEnIcE

Grifballs of Steel

Result: Division 2 3rd Place

The prodigal team have returned, the former 3 times EUGBL champions, Grifballs of Steel. Perhaps the favorites at the start, the only team to have won the league more than once when they won it three times on the bounce are looking strong as they make their way into the playoffs. The team have been hit with problems with their roster but seem to have eased these out, but have had a problem getting the other teams to play them. They only go into the playoffs with a forefit victory over the Storm Hawks after a confusing incident but can still go all the way. However, the team is almost completly different from the one that ruled the league a few seasons ago with only Itchy49 remaining. However, the players they do have are experienced and are talented so they can not be counted out.

Itchy has won the leage multiple times so knows what it means to win, and he is joined by talented players such as the powerful tank, NighT iZ ClutcH, and the versatile and skillful hybrid, DRO Praetorian who is captaining the team. Itchy is still playing at the level which he used to deliver with and is still a great addition to the team. Can he make it another title for himself?

Danger Man: Itchy49

With six teams all gunning for the win, anything could happen. Will we have more drama or will it be smooth sailing? Will there be an upset or will it all go as planned? We'll have to wait and see as we head towards the conclusion of this EUGBL 10th Annivesary, the EUGBSML11.

This should be an article at the front page. Could you get it up there? More people would be attracted to the EU league no doubt. :)

EDIT: I waited too long with posting this. xD I think you should let her.

No I wouldn't mind, I think it would be quite cool. I'd like to see more European stuff up there and if it is European stuff up that I wrote then I can feel a little bit smug about it. That's how I roll.

News from the European Grifball news now in:-

Muffin's Friday Frenzy

Screw The Rules And Just Come At Me Bro! vs. Faster Than Light

Last night, the first game in the playoffs was played as Division 1 Runners-Up Screw The Rules And Just Come At Me Bro! defeated Faster Than Light in a close 5-4 encounter. The night saw both teams debuting a new player for there team, with ImNoRobot making his first appearance from Faster Than Light and Screw The Rules bringing in Dinky296, who is probably better known as Alex and as the captain of the Death on Call team which won the first EUGBL (then known as the UKGBL) in its very first season over 3 years ago.

While Faster Than Light gave a good performance on a tanking front with Robot and dangerman ROBS A NYTMARE providing positive k/d spreads, they could not defeat the veterans and defending champions who managed to get the win in a close game. Screw The Rules we now go on to face Johnson's Salty Grifballs (my team) in the semi-finals.

Storm Hawks vs. Grifballs of Steel

However, we had more action last night as Storm Hawks faced Grifballs of Steel. After the mayhem and chaos that was caused when these teams played last time we all hoped that this time there would be no drama and the game would go smoothly.

This didn't happen.

What happened instead was another night of drama in the European league. Storm Hawks had managed to take a 4-0 league in the game and where looking good for the win. However, when they scored their 5th, one of GBOS's players was in the black screen, according to GBOS because of the Americans that Storm Hawks where using (Storm Hawks had been given permission to use 2 Americans rather than the allowed 1 because it was all they had available to them) and wanted a rematch with captain DRO Praetorian stepping in instead of the player suffering the black screen (NighT iZ ClutcH).

After some long drawn out discussion, and some arguments and protests and a lot of confusion, a rematch has been decided with Storm Hawks being awarded an automatic 4-0 lead in the game. However, this may not be the end of this drama so make sure you keep watching for future drama.

Muffin Monday Musing

I'm back, ladies and gentlemen, and any trans-genders too so everyone is included, bringing you all the information from the EUGBL by moving it from Rooster Teeth over to this site instead.

Okay, after a long drawn out session it appears that the Storm Hawks have finally been awarded their 5-0 win over Grifballs of Steels after another dramatic game between the two, which saw claims of black screens and lagging, as well as a game ended early, clouding the result of the game. However, Storm Hawks have finally been awarded a win after commissioner Teaguey222 (Liam) decided that Storm Hawks had fairly won the game, and will now be moving on to face Teaguey's very own team, Sarge's Angels in the final.

That means the semi-finals are set and the final four now stand. The matches are:-

The battle between the newcomers and the veterans as Storm Hawks in their very first EUGBL competition take on the longest running Grifball team in the history of EU Grifball, Sarge's Angels for a shot in the final. It looks like the game could be played this Saturday so keep your eyes peeled for more.

The other encounter sees the defending champions Screw The Rules And Just Come At Me Bro! taking on the undefeated Johnson's Salty Grifballs from the other final place. This game is currently scheduled for tomorrow at 7pm so if anything goes to plan the first finalist will be known by tomorrow night. Watch this thread for more information.

That's all for now, more news as it comes and I will be posting the player stats at the end of the season. See you next time.

That's something I'd be interested in as my lack of a life gives me enough time, at the moment anyway, but my poor spelling skills is something that I think could be a problem.
