Feel free to discuss these topics amongst yourselves before the actual discussion happens on the Hubcast. Don't forget to cast your vote! The debate topic with the highest vote tally the night of the Hubcast will be the topic we discuss.

This week's debate choices are:

-Grifball: Hammer vs. Sword

or

-Misc: (Standard Definition vs. High Definition) while playing video games

Hammer. It's a much more versatile weapon. You can of course smash your opponents faces in, but you could also slice them up with a sword. But you can launch your friendly runner over enemies when they are too numerous to smash. You can launch the enemy runner away from his/her target (especially useful/fun on blargball maps when you can knock 'em off the edge). When an enemy runner is coming in weak, it's easier to get an on-the-pad stop with the hammer. But perhaps most importantly, you can bonk-betray teammates at the right times using the hammer. (The sword doesn't bonk, so the bonk-betray isn't possible.)

TV: HDTV. Given the choice...I don't understand why you would use SD. Unless it's about the location of the TV. People spend a bunch of effort making fancy high-def visuals...we should watch 'em when we can :)

Erm, if we can put in input then on Halo 3 the sword was awesome as you could rip through tanks with it, and could destroy the carrier. Of course the hammer did have an awesome range and you could go aerial, but I liked the sword. Now I'm all hammer on Reach, tankin' team

Also I don't really notice a difference in SD/HD. Got my 360 on HD and run my PS3/Wii on SD. This is all

Cow and Muffin make good points for the Hammer-Sword debate. I would like this to be discussed in depth.

As for SD-HD, there is no debate. If you can afford it, go HD. You can see the motion tracker clearer (vital in split screen), you can see enemies clearer further away, and you get to enjoy the detailed graphics in the game.

im going to go with the hammer here. as much as the sword can tear through a runner the hammer can be used in alot of different ways, which is more than you can say for the sword

sd on a sd tv is much better than sd on an hd tv. this being said if you have the ability to go hd with an hdtv then do it

I almost always start off with the sword. Unless I want to launch myself to the bomb spawn. Most of the time when I'm fighting one guy I can dance until they miss with their hammer and leave a perfect slice opportunity, or if I mess up the timing we both end up dead. Either way, the enemy has stopped advancing and I've done my job.

The sword is a great defensive weapon. The hammer is a great offensive weapon.

They both have their advantages. It is up to you to use them.

I find it depends on which gametype I'm playing really. If it's vanilla (ew) then I'll go with my hammer because one of my only focuses is to kill the enemy tanks so that we don't get tanked/hosted to death. If it is dash (YAY!) on the other hand, then I'll go with a sword because I want to actually roll around the tanks and get straight to the runner.

Also, it depends on the caliber of team I'm playing and how new to the game they are. For example, I would never try to sword tank against a veteran team like WTF on vanilla. However, on team like Comeback Season in the AGLA I was much more comfortable doing it because I knew that they'd never seen someone be effective with a sword before. Thus allowing me to go +40 with the sword and +2 with the hammer. But that's just my 2 cents.

P.S. Goddamn it zinger post more than one word for the love of God!

The hammer is a great tool, but it's a clumsy one. Betrayals, launching the opposing bomb runner, not getting a crucial stop. We surely sacrifice accuracy for power. If you have a good team on hand, be the one to go for sword if given the option. If you like to win and not just get a wicked awesome kd, then sword is a great choice. You get the job done against a runner, and with the right skill against a tank.

Alright guys and gals, get your votes in soon because I will be closing the poll and locking the topic tomorrow night so that I can tally everything up and have it ready for the Hubcast Thursday night.
I'll be tallying up the community's vote for what we should debate, as well as what the community voted on the debate topics as well.
Be sure to tune in to the Hubcast Thursday night to hear our take on the debate you've chosen for us. Hope to see you then!
