Well I nominate the Straight-Edge arena then, and I'm prepared for the criticism and then the rage when I try to input the feedback into the map causing feelings of anxiety, paranoia and a weakening grip on reality. But some of that may have been a lie. Or was it. That's the fun in this situation

I liked making a new map though as my last Vanilla map was just a rip-off of Bloody Grifball. This time I actually put effort into it. I made it up as I went along, but effort none the less

I should clarify:

You may nominate and vote for your own courts (i do it, you should be able to as well) when we put the nomination thread up in a week or so. Just be prepared for the giant microscope, and criticism which may seem harsh. Please keep in mind that the thread WILL NOT be a place to vote against maps, or a place to state why you do not like a map.

Oh, now I understand. Okay then, I guess I'll be nominate by arena next week instead. I guess this is just the post explaining that I now understand the explanation. Was this post necessary. Probably not. But I'm not one of the spam kings so I'm good

The map was put in because it is the home court of a championship winning team. Period. It's not up to you to supply us with a definition of "acceptable". Part of the charm of home courts is that they are NOT built by forge pros. They are home made courts and should look the part. As long as a fair game of Grifball can be played (AGLA minimum standard of approval) then the court fits within our definition of acceptable.

This is my problem. A fair game of Grifball can NOT be played on Hot Bikini Guyz Palace. I'm not being pessimistic when I say this map will cause some people to stop playing in this playlist. It is utterly impossible to play due to framerate lag.

Just gonna put my two cents in on HBG Palace. Is it perfect? Heck no! I know how to forge, but not forge Nokyard status or anything like that. It seems that some of the issues are that some of the designs on the map don't flow well with other designs (I think). On that matter, who cares? Designs not matching in no way affects the gameplay. As for framerate. Yes, there is some framerate issues. PERSONALLY, it's not as bad as you guys are making it (obviously I'm gonna be a little biased due to it being our homecourt).

As for the map making people not play the playlist? I doubt that will happen. There are MANY other maps to choose from and I doubt you will see our court come up too often. Not to mention the only gametype that you can get with HBG Palace is Evolved... Personally, I only get 1 game of Evolved out of every 10 or so overall games (if even that). So you really wont see it that much. Sorry that many of you don't like it. They just asked for our map with like 2 days notice, Nokyard cleaned it up A LOT, and they took it. If you don't like it, don't vote for it. Still <3 you all.

I disagree with this. The design can be either distracting or not. If it's distracting, than it hinders gameplay. Bloody Grifball is a perfect example of non-distracting map. It's not particularly pretty, but it is very simple, that's why it's the default map. It flows well and is very low key. HBG palace, however, is not. The design is very distracting because it doesn't flow well. Combine that with the rendering issues and how the stunt ramps flash on the walls, and it definitely affects gameplay.

Try watching a full 4 v 4 game from the corner. It becomes impossible to play because of how jumpy it is.*

*May put your xbox at increased risk for RROD ;)

fix'd
Also, I agree that is can be distracting but after the first time playing it are you really going to stare at the walls while you play?

I'm not trying to start a flame war on our map, so I'm trying to keep my responses as short as sweet as they can.

To respond to the scenery portion: I think Neo pretty much summed up my response.

As for the corner portion: If it's only in the corner where it reaches the "RRODing your xbox" framrate, then don't sit in the corner for the whole game and actually play. Idk why you would sit in a corner and watch a MM game anyways.

Again, trying not to start a flame war here. Just giving my 2 cents.

The framerate problems occur throughout the map. It's just at its worst in the corners. I gave that example because if you run into the corner with the ball, your screwed.

I agree that framerate occurs throughout the map. However, I feel that it is not enough framerate to make the game unplayable (again, possible bias). I havn't seen it in the corners yet, however, I havn't really looked for it there either. Next time I'm on the map, I'll give the corners a look.

We played a couple games on the HBG court tonight. Other than the fact that the walls are very loud, no one noticed any serious frame-rate issues. The only time it was the least bit notable was once when Jubal was in a corner and walking back and forth very quickly, trying to cause an issue. Other than that, the court operated just fine in normal gameplay.

YMMV.
