For those who are aware in the EUGBL we elect our commissioners through a democratic voting system where all the players in the league can vote for who they want to be commissioner out of those standing so now that the season is over let election fever begin.

Schedule

4th June - 10th June: Candidates step forward
11th - 24th June: Candidates present the reasons they believe they should win
25th June - 1st July: Voting

Apart from the fact that this thread was posted a day late if anyone wants to send me their intention to stand to be commissioner next season then send me a PM here on GrifballHub. You can withdraw at a later date but you have until midnight on Sunday to inform me.

To stand you must:-

- Have played in at least one EUGBL season
- Be European or a foreign player currently competing in the EUGBL

So good luck to all of you

Well the clock has run down and the times to submit your intent to run for the commissioner of the European Grifball League 13 is now up. I know there have been a few people asking me who all the people who are standing are with me not confirming anything so now that the time is over I can reveal the name of the candidates who are standing so here they are:-

Messiah Muffin (Muffin)
kirsty de lacey/CaptainSev004 (Kirsty/Sev)
Yoshigasm
AwareMosquito (Matt419)
JshadowknightP

Now now you can't vote yet this isn't supposed to be a popularity contest this is just to let you all know who is running with five options to choose from. Please don't make you selection just yet as the candidates have two weeks to send me there reasons for running, the reason they want to be commissioner and what they would do as commissioner. In two weeks time all these will be revealed to the league and the league players can then vote for who they want to be their commissioner for the next season so everyone who is running get your pledges done you have plenty of time and good luck to everyone.

- Muffin

>>> HEY LISTEN! <<<

Hey everyone the voting for your next EUGBL commissioner is now underway, starting today and lasting exactly one week until July 1st 23:59 GMT you have a chance to vote for one of the four candidates running, that's right four as candidates CaptainSev004 and kirsty de lacey have made the decision to pull out meaning now you have four candidates to choose from.

To vote either send a message on XBL to me (Messiah Muffin) with your choice and which team you play for or send me a personal message on the Hub with your gamertag, team and your choice of course. If you are a free agent but are looking for a team please specify this.

If you are an active player in the EUGBL or a player who is looking to join the league then you are allowed to vote. Players who are banned from the league are not allowed to vote. Please read all of the manifestos before voting so without further ado here are you options.

Hello ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, cretins and philistines around the world but mainly around Europe I am your current European Grifball League commissioner Messiah Muffin and I am seeking re-election to my position in charge of the EUGBL. Now you may be wondering why you would want to re-elect this hobo looking, web making ego maniac who can barely speak English to a third term in charge so let me tell you why I think you should vote for the Muffin.

The way I can sum it up is that I have commissioned the league for two seasons now and after a difficult first league I managed to revitalize the league and made the most successful league in recent EUGBL memory. I think that the last season has been an amazing one so here is my point. Why fix what isn't broken? I can't see any reason why people would want to remove me as commissioner, maybe that might sound a bit cocky but I can't remember anybody really complaining about me and the league went well, I don't see any reason why I should be removed we've seen what I can do and what I've done for the league so why not let me have another go to see if I can keep the league alive.

So what am I planning on doing this season? Well like I said don't fix what isn't broken and I think the things I've put in place have gone well. I'll be looking at doing pro and amateur leagues once again if possible which I really hope it is and will keep most of the things the same, most of the rules and the admins and everything like that. However I'm not planning on just rolling the same league around so here is what I am planning on changing.

First of all there seemed to be some confusion and misinterpretation about the rules especially coming down to things such as pauses in play so I will be rewriting these rules to make it more clear what they mean. Yes I'll be rewriting the rule book but then I did write it in the first place.

Second of all I know that people have been asking for this and that and there have been some things that people has asked for I don't wish to implement but one thing I am planning is changing the rules of neutral host maps and such. I've not been a fan of neutral host maps in the past but this season I will change my previous rule and allow such maps for things such as neutral host games and streaming, but of course both teams must agree like they must for any map.

As for everything else I'd prefer to keep things the same. I know people have asked for things such as subbing like in the GGL but remember the GGL is a recreational competition while the EUGBL is a competitive one and it simply wouldn't be fair, we've seen how in the GGL it is being monitored further so things will be kept fair and things will stay the same as they always have been, it is the EUGBL way. Also another thing that came up was about teams being able to move teams if say teams fold after they have been roster locked. Also a no, this has been attempted in the past with transfer windows and it gets abused and leads to more forfeit factories as teams jump ship mid season to bigger teams. Also All-Star games have been the talk of the town at the moment, we have a Head of Events do we not why not just ask him to do something about it it would be under his jurisdiction.

Well I hope that I have managed to convince you to vote me back in with my ego stroking post but I hope that you like what you've read and appreciate what I've done and decide that I'm the right man to lead us into the EUGBL13 so I'll end this now so I don't annoy you anymore and send you to sleep so I'll just leave you with this, when casting you vote make sure you vote for Messiah Muffin.

Well then, some people have apparently been looking forward to seeing my reasons for standing and what I could implement, well I hope I don't disappoint, but before that, my reason for standing.

Well then, I'm standing for EU commissioner, well, mainly just because I think I could do a good job and implement some new (and maybe cool) things.

And now, some of the (possibly) cool things I would implement to the league. First up, would be the allowance for matches to be neutral hosted. I know that last season (EUGBL 12 for those who don't know) there were a few people who were complaining about host and they had lost games because of it, but couldn't neutral host games because the rules didn't allow it. I would change the rules so it would be allowed.

Secondly, I would implement a sub system in the EUGBL, similar to the GGL, but with a few differences. Firstly, one of the main problems with the GGL sub system is teams bringing in players who are far better than the other players on the court. In the EUGBL I would make it so that a team can only sub in a player of the same skill level. For example, if the next season has the divisions split in the same way (rookie and veteran team, a rookie team would only be allowed to sub in a player from another rookie and vice versa. This would stop teams from exploiting the sub rule. Teams would only be allowed to sub in players during the division stage, not in the playoffs. I would also make it so that a team can only use subs a certain amount of times during the season (probably 5). For example, if only 5 subs were allowed to be used, you could sub in one player in five games, or 2 players in one games and one player in three games. You would not be able to use any more than 2 subs per game.

And that's those out the way. Some people might consider those quite controversial and if you have any questions about how these rules would work, please PM me or ask me on the forums about it. And now, to the less controversial thing that I would do.

I would like to do more articles about the league, giving people outside the EUGBL (and maybe people in it as well) a more detailed look into what goes on in the league. I would do more articles during the season (not many more, I wouldn't want to over do it) but something I would definitely introduce would be a monthly update about the EUGBL. It would go into detail about any leagues or tournaments being run and also a bit about the EU events that our lovely germanicus does. Also, info about teams occasionally and maybe a couple of the games played in the league or a tournament during the month.
(Even if I don't get elected, I would like to be able to still do the monthly update).

So, that's what you could expect from me if you elected me as commissioner and like I said earlier, any questions please PM me or ask in the forums. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Manly-Festo.
Here's a bunch of reasons I knocked up just now.
(Editors Note - I have been drinking polish lager quite heavily tonight as I stepped out of college for the last time earlier.)

I've been around for a while now, played in leagues with a variety of different commissioners, with varying ideas on how the league should be run. (Which often had me at loggerheads with them.)
I'm not going to promise radical changes like some other candidates may well do nor will I say I'll "make the league better" without outlining how. I intend to remove the sort of structures that lead to one or two teams occupying all positions of power and as we move forward attempt improving the size of the league without losing our current members or compromising the league.

Policies I would like to see enacted

Divisional All-star game - This seemed quite a popular idea, but it's open to tweaking.

Increased involvement with GGL and AGLA - Scrims and GGL participation.

Increased encouragement of EUGB content. (Keep bringing those articles, videos, takes and podcasts on Lads and Ladettes!)

Captains Council - Each participating team would have a representative allowed to vote on league rule changes, with the overview to the league commissioner being more as a facilitator than an dictator.

Players player of the season - (nothing to do with the fact that Scott Parker is my Hero.)

Prizes are a maybe idea ticking over in my head but don't vote for me if that's all you care about.

Disputes community - I'm unaware if it is running under incumbent administration however, if it isn't I wish to re-instate it.

Things I would like to keep

Current Stats/highlights staff - They are doing a damn fine job.

Current League structure - Based on the current number of teams we have, it is the ideal system however an increase or decrease may render this system unbalanced, but that would be reviewed later on.

Well there they are, get your votes in now and please ask your team to check this out too, obviously we want you to ask them to vote but we ask you send them here and don't just tell them who to vote for, let people make up there own minds. So let's get this election underway, good to everyone and let the best Grifballer win :)

Ladies and gentlemen, finally the time is here where I can officially announce the winner of the EUGBL13 commissioner voting. So I won't leave you hanging and can now announce your winner, and still EUGBL13 commissioner (that gave it away I know):-

MESSIAH MUFFIN!

Yes I managed to come out as the winner of the election by getting 70% of the vote. Thank you to all those who stood and all those who voted, in the end we received 17 votes from 9 different teams a much better turn out than our last election.

I came in the lead with 12 votes, JshadowknightP and AwareMosquito both got 2 votes why Yoshigasm finished bottom of the pile with 1 vote.

So this is it, the election is now over and you now know who is going to lead you into the EUGBL13, and once again it will be the Messiah Muffin. Good luck everyone and look forward to the EUGBL coming back in August. Until then good luck in any of your over pastures, get ready and train up and get ready for another great season of EUGBL action.

- Muffin
