The Race for Amateur Division Five

The Race for Amateur Division Five

As per the request from Archer of LFTO: Delocated, the Hub is highlighting Amateur League Division 5 and upcoming games that will determine how the division breaks down for playoffs.

Amateur League Division 5 is comprised of first season teams Pain Train and AoR Glory Hole 2.0, second season team LFTO: Delocated, third season team The Henry Lovers, fifth season team Part of American History and forfeit factory Alacritous Hotfoots.

Currently, the race for the top two division slots, and consequently the division’s 2 playoff spots, is becoming increasingly tight. Pain Train currently is 7 – 1 with two forfeit wins and 38 goals scored. They still need to play Part of American History (whom they previously bested 7 -2) and LFTO: Delocated (whom they beat previously 9 -0). If this team can stay consistent with their record of victories over LFTO and Part of American History, they will end the season 9-1 and be guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. If they lose one of those games, they’re still in playoff contention but will likely be tied for first place.

The current second place team is The Henry Lovers with a record of 7 -2, with 2 forfeit wins and 36 goals scored. Their last game to play is against AoR Glory Hole 2.0, who they beat earlier this season 5-4. If their previous encounter with Glory Hole is any indication, this game could go either way. The Henry Lovers need this win if they want to have a solid shot at the playoffs. Although a loss doesn’t necessarily drop them from contention, it leaves their fate to secondary measures to determine playoff eligibility such as head to head game outcome, head to head goals scored and average goals scored over common games.

The third and final contender for a playoff spot is LFTO: Delocated with a current record of 5 -2 (they have not reported the two wins over the forfeit factories like Pain Train and Henry Lovers) and 37 total goals scored. In order to have a good chance at the playoffs, LFTO needs to win their Thursday night game against Panic Train. Although a loss doesn’t necessarily mean they kiss their playoff hopes goodbye, it will put their destiny in the hands of the Henry Lovers.

With one game each left to play, if both The Henry Lovers and LFTO: Delocated lose (automatically giving Pain Train their 8th win and possession of first place), they’ll be fighting it out for second place (both with 7 -3 records). Currently, their head to head games and head to head goals against each other are tied, so it will come down to how many goals they manage to score in their last games.

Should LFTO: Delocated defeat Panic Train, Panic Train defeat Part of American History and The Henry Lovers beat Glory Hole, a three way tie for first is possible. The first tie breaker is head to head record and since the teams will then all be 1-1 with each other, the next deciding criteria, head to head goals per game, will be used. If head to head goals per game cannot determine a winner (which, based on current stats it cannot), the next deciding factor is a team’s average score per game for common games. Currently, this criteria benefits Panic Train, who currently has an average of 4.75 goals per common game, LFTO has 4.625 and The Henry Lovers have 4.5 average goals per common game.

Three solid teams but only two playoff spots; this makes division five the division to watch in the final week of the regular season.

This Division looks similar to the Division 1 last season. There was only 1 win between each of the top 3 seeds and each team had both won and lost a game to each other. Tight divisions are always the most fun to watch. I want Delocated to make it though.
