“Halo” Enthusiasts Invited to Join the “World’s Biggest” Performance of Its Iconic Chant

Fans of the popular game franchise Halo have received a special invitation to participate in what is being hailed as the “world’s biggest” performance of its renowned Gregorian chant. The best part? No previous singing or gaming experience is necessary to take part in this extraordinary event.

The original Gregorian chant made its debut in 2002 as part of the theme for the first Halo game. Created by the talented composer Marty O’Donnell, this musical masterpiece became synonymous with the long-standing Halo series, with elements of the original theme appearing in subsequent game installments.

Today, on June 28, gamechoir has issued an open call for Halo enthusiasts to unite in creating this historic rendition of the series’ Gregorian chant.

The digital event will commence with a live-streamed vocal lesson on YouTube, scheduled for July 10 at 18:45 BST. Participants will then be encouraged to practice using a professionally-recorded backing track before submitting their performances, whether they possess a high, medium, or low voice, to gamechoir.

Following the submission period, gamechoir will broadcast the final piece on August 17.

Marty O’Donnell, the brilliant composer behind the Halo theme, has extended his invitation to fans, regardless of their singing abilities, and expressed his astonishment at the chant’s enduring popularity even after two decades.

“Video games and video game music have the power to bring people together,” shared O’Donnell. “Gamechoir exemplifies this, which is why I personally invite everyone to join me in this project.”

Led by Mark Strachan, the founder of Choir Of The Earth, and musical director Ben England BEM, gamechoir aims to unite gamers through the medium of music.

The August performance of the Halo chant will mark gamechoir’s debut, and Strachan emphasized the significance of celebrating this iconic piece of video game history while bringing together tens of thousands of voices to create something truly magnificent.

“We want everyone to be a part of it, regardless of age, background, or location,” added England. “No prior singing or gaming experience is necessary!”
